The Meteorological Centre, Raipur, on Saturday warned of heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorm with lightning in different parts of Chhattisgarh on August 8 and 9, which may extend till August 10. Five persons and 23 sheeps have been killed in separate lightning strike incidents in Janjgir-Champa district.
Bijapur district will witness heavy rains with thunder which will cause water logging in many low-lying areas.
Next, heavy rains with lightning and thunderstrom will HIT Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker and Narayanpur districts.
The quantum of rains can lead to submergence of crop fields and disruptions of road and rail transport.
A similar situation will prevail in the next 72 hours in the districts of Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker and Narayanpur.
