Chhattisgarh to observe ‘World Glaucoma Week’

Published on:

The Chhattisgarh government will observe a ‘World Glaucoma Week’ from March 6 to 12.

As part of different events, free eye check-up and public awareness programmes will be organized in Primary Health Centres (PHC), Community Health Centres (CHC) and district hospitals.

During the week, seminars will be organized at Anganwadi centres, schools and community buildings as part of creating awareness among the public.

The eye examination will be done for those above 40 years of age. After the checkup, free glasses will be provided to those in need, an official communication said on Saturday.

Glaucoma is age borne as well as genetic disease of the eyes. While working on computers, laptops and mobiles, there is a lot of pressure on the eyes. Ignorance and carelessness of eye-related problems gradually takes the form of a serious disease like glaucoma, which can lead to loss of eyesight.
