While sharing his experiences at a news conference after completing the month-long State Government’s mega public relation drive lok Suraaj Abhiyan, Chief Minister Raman Singh said people want more now and their expectation has changed. “Considering their demands, we have decided that 150 new mobile towers would be set up in different locations of the State,” said the CM, adding, “Chhattisgarh has undergone a drastic change. Now people ask for better mobile phone network connectivity. In places like Bijapur and Chhote Dongar of Bastar, residents have requested for 3G connectivity. They now want subject experts in Math, Physics, English in their schools.”
The State Government has also decided that by the end of June this year, every school be it Primary, Middle, High or Higher Secondary will have toilet facility. Similarly all Anganwadi centers shall also have toilets. “This is a big target we have to achieve,” said the CM. He further added that no complaints were received about the Public Distribution System that people were not getting food grains.
However, he accepted that complaints about inferior quality of food grains were reported. “We are trying to connect various schemes with Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY). About 18 lakh labourers working in unorganised and construction sector will be connected through these schemes. The premiums of these workers under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Suraksha Yojna will be paid by labour Department. Similarly, Tendupatta leaves collector shall be also insured under this scheme,” Singh said.
He informed that RO water treatment plants will be set up in all district hospitals across the State. To a query about worst performing Department, he said that irregularities were found in some schemes being implemented by different departments. “These have been taken into account and very soon the problem will be addressed,” he said.
