Chhattisgarh to form State Green Council

Published on:

Chhattisgarh will soon set up a Chhattisgarh State Green Council to give a new direction to regenerative development and make the state a leader in this sector. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be the Chairman.

Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar and Advisor to Chief Minister Pradeep Sharma will be the Vice-Chairmen of the Council.

In addition to the Member Secretary and Technical Advisor, a total of 12 members will be appointed in the Council.

The Forest Department will be the administrative department for regenerative development work, an official communication issued on Saturday said.

Baghel asked the Chief Secretary to take immediate steps to form the Council and begin its work at the Minor Forest Produce Union office.

The Chairman will nominate seven members from among the reputed people of the private sector.

The continuous environmental degradation has led to an increase in the earth's temperature and ill-effects of climate change are being observed. The only option to counter it is regenerative and sustainable development.
