The anganwadi workers will first test the quality and taste of sweetened and flavoured milk scheme ‘Chief Minister Amrut Yojana’ and then provide it to the children at the centers, an official statement informed on Tuesday.

“If they (anganwadi workers) find it that milk is safe to consume then only children will be fed. District Collectors and other officers will visit the Anganwadi centers and taste the flavoured milk and then only the children will be allowed to consume it,’’ the statement added.

The Women and Child Development Department officer on Tuesday issued a circular at the Mantralaya and instructed all the concerned top district officers to be extra vigilant to provide high quality and safe milk to children at any cost.

Department Secretary Sonmani Bora in the circular said that children in the age-group of 3-6 years are provided 100 ml sweetened milk on every Monday.

The left-over milk should be fed to children as per their consumption appetite and the milk should be stored again. District-level committees should be convened and steps should be taken to make the milk scheme successful.

The suggestions of Mitanins, Anganwadi workers, parents of children should be incorporated in the scheme.

Meanwhile, a State-level training programme will be held on June 8 in Raipur for the Anganwadi workers regarding the safety, preservation and usage of sweetened and flavoured milk for children under the 'Chief Minister Amrut Yojana'. Women and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu will inaugurate the programme.

A circular had already been issued to the District Collectors, Central Procurement centre Raipur, District Programme officers, District Women and Child Development officers and Anganwadi Workers' Training Centers workers. The main topics of discussion will be packaging, allergies and remedies among children, storage of milk, usage and precautions and steps to be taken in case of emergency.
