Cases of sun burn and heat stroke have risen considerably in Chhattisgarh as most parts of the State are sizzling under 47 degree Celsius temperature.

Almost all the 27 districts recorded high temperatures on Thursday. State capital Raipur registered 47 degree Celsius.

Doctors at the State's biggest government hospital in Chhattisgarh - Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital in Raipur- said that 78 persons were brought to the hospital for skin-related diseases such as sunburn, on Thursday. This was the highest on any given day during the ongoing summer season. Reports from Bilaspur said that 59 persons were rushed to the district hospital after they had bouts of vomiting and other problems.

In urban areas of the State, roads looked deserted and people remained indoors to evade intense heat wave. Even at busy squares in Raipur, traffic cops stayed away from duty in daytime to escape the heat wave. The government offices too recorded thin attendance on Thursday.

The Metrological department has predicted further rise in temperature and heat wave during the next 24 hours.
