Chhattisgarh sheds poverty tag: BJP

Published on:

Fire brand BJP legislator Devjibhai Patel (in pic) on Wednesday said that Chhattisgarh got poverty as a legacy during its formation and due to the Action Plan prepared by the ruling party, the State could come out of stigma of poverty attached to it.

“Attempts were made to defame us (the ruling party) in 2003 and 2008. We won a large number of Assembly seats in 2008 and there were charges that the party won because it had a nexus with the Central security forces,” he said in the State Assembly while participating in discussion on Motion of Thanks to Governor’s address.

This time I would like to ask the Opposition that they have won more seats in Bastar and Surguja so they must tell us with whose support they won the polls, the BJP member asked. Patel further remarked, “When the country’s apex court asks the Chhatisgarh’s PDS system to be implemented across the country, our heads are held high with pride.”

“I would like to thank Chief Minister Raman Singh for getting ration cards made for 54 lakh people and also getting 50 per cent reservation for Women in the Panchayats,” he said.  The BJP member read out all the key highlights of the Raman Government’s welfare schemes while thanking the people of the State for ensuring peace during the past one decade.
