Having established global parameters in design and execution of projects in its hi-tech capital city in Naya Raipur, the Chhattisgarh Government has now firmed up another plan for constructing self-contained low-cost housing colonies with a view to making quality houses affordable for all sections of the society.

Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat on Tuesday convened a review meeting at the Mahanadi Bhavan (Mantralaya) to take stock of the pace of work taken up for all ongoing projects being executed by Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA). Munat said that zone-wise planning for 'layer-II' projects must also be taken up along with ensuring rapid development of the new capital. The Minister, during the meeting, also inquired about the status of work for construction of Chhattisgarh Assembly building, Rajbhavan and Chief Minister's residence in Naya Raipur.

Munat also directed to commence a 'Rental Housing Scheme' in Naya Raipur with a view to ensuring housing units are made available to all with an emphasis on private participation for execution of the project. NRDA chairman N Baijendra Kumar said that the process of appointing a consultant for the construction of important buildings had already been started and very soon a design for the same would be finalised for the new capital.
