Chhattisgarh police on Monday observed police commemoration day here and paid tribute to the martyred personnel. Governor Shekhar Dutt who attended as chief guest in the state level programme organized at 4th battalion Mana camp in Raipur, paid his tribute to all police personnel who were killed on duty.

Paying homage to the personnel who were killed, he said such sacrifice will never go in vein. The future generation will learn from their sacrifice, he said.

The Chhattisgarh state has been infected by the problem of Naxalism. The barbaric and cruel acts committed by the naxalites have proved that they are against common men and against development, he said.

“By destroying schools, buildings, anganwadi centres, roads, power and telecom infrastructure they are not only obstructing development but also causing in repairable loss to economy. Innocent people are falling prey to their violence” he said.

The Maoists are doing an act of cowardice and targeting police personnel, he said.

He also assured that the government will take necessary care of the kin of the personals who sacrificed their lives.

Offering floral tribute to the martyrs, the state director general of police Ramniwas said police have been playing a lead role in the protection of the democratic value.

Honesty, sacrifice, dedication are the main definition of our work. We feel proud of working for the society and the country, he said. We are always prepared to provide security to the society and serving the community, he said.

Several top officials of the state administration and police department also paid their tribute to the martyred personnel on the occasion.

Police commemoration day is observed on October 21 every year to mark the martyrdom of policemen killed in ladakh in 1959 and to pay tribute to all other police personnel killed on duty during the year.
