A rapid change in the technological aspects in the construction business globally has now prompted the Chhattisgarh Housing Board to carry out novel experiments to keep up with the changing technological scenario.
As a consequence, the Board has decided to come out with a brand new building manual in keeping with the times. A decision to this effect was taken at the review meeting chaired by Principal Secretary Housing and Environment Department N Baijendra Kumar here on Wednesday.
Kumar stated in the meeting that a plethora of experiments are being conducted internationally with regard to building construction which had resulted in stronger structures built with a lower cost of construction.
He said that keeping the global trends in mind, it is imperative that a new building manual be prepared for adopting new techniques. Kumar said that a number of countries are making use of ‘light weight clay’ with a low cost outlay which helps in building stronger structures.
The Principal Secretary also directed officials to adopt the new experiments based on the ancient science of ‘Vaastu’ in building construction. Notably, the Board has carved its niche in the area of quality building construction in the residential housing space with its projects in the national scenario.
Kumar stated that the residential projects must be taken up in places where the people do not suffer any lack of basic facilities to be provided in such projects.
He also directed the officials to expedite the process of allotment of houses under the ‘Atal Awas Yojana to the beneficiaries.
On the occasion, Commissioner, Chhattisgarh Housing Board Sonmani Bora provided directions to the officials regarding the preparation of a new building manual.
He said that the officials must identify expert agencies in the construction sector for preparing the new building manual. Bora especially directed that the agencies selected for the work of preparing the new building manual must complete the work within two months of being assigned the project.
The new building manual would incorporate structural, design and environmental elements. This apart, Bora also directed officials to prepare a software for monitoring projects for fixing responsibilities on officials and the contractors. The other key aspect discussed in the meeting among a large number of others were related to plantations and rain water harvesting work taken up in various colonies.
Also present in the meeting was Additional Commissioner, Chhattisgarh Housing Board A K Saxena besides other officials.
