Chhattisgarh is hotbed of corruption, claimed All India Congress Committee Secretary Bhakt Charan Das while addressing a Press conference here on Friday.
“Both ruling BJP Government in Chhattisgarh and Narendra Modi government at the Centre are totally responsible for surge of Naxalism in Bastar region. Just by giving 20,000 forces, the BJP government is boasting itself; however after getting 90,000 police personnel during UPA regime, the State government was not able to control Naxals,” the AICC Secretary charged.
According to him, the UPA government had provided enough forces and basket full of social sector development for Bastar. However, after spending huge sum of money, the government in Chhattisgarh was unable to end Naxalism.
Criticising BJP government at the Centre, he said that the Modi government follows NaMo policy that is ‘No Agriculture Malgovernance Only’.He dubbed the land Acquisition Ordinance 2015 as life Acquisition Ordinance and questioned that before coming to power, the BJP had supported the land Acquisition Bill introduced by the Congress party but after winning election what was the need for change.
Over farmers’ issue, he said farmers were not provided with Minimum Support Price. The economic survey of India says there is need for big shift towards agriculture and call for greater attention, he said. The AICC Secretary claimed that during one year of Modi regime, about 7,000 farmers have committed suicide. BJP government has slashed subsidy over fertilizers by over 50 per cent, he alleged.
He however dodged the question of number of corruption cases exposed by Congress at national level.
