'Chhattisgarh first to provide skill development right to youth'

Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday said that Chhattisgarh is the first State in the country to have provided ‘skill development’ as a right for the local youth.

He was speaking after inaugurating a six-storey commercial complex constructed at a cost of an estimated Rs5.50 crore by the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation at Mahadev Ghat road at Raipura in the city.

Singh expressed hope that the law providing 'skill development' as a right for the youth would open new employment opportunities for the State’s youth and even help in rapid development of Chhattisgarh.

Singh said that the law providing skill development right to the youth entails that any person between the age of 15 to 45 years who demands for a training in skill development would be provided the same by the State government within 90 days. Singh said that the bill providing the right to skill development for the youth had been passed in the State Assembly.

Speaking on the occasion, PWD Minister Brijmohan Agarwal said that any state for its development requires skilled manpower. He said that the commencement of Apparel Training and Design Centre in the building would help in production of quality readymade garments.

Commerce and Industry Minister Rajesh Munat said that the state government had been offering sewing machines to thousands of women workers from the un-organised sector in the state.

He said that the training offered to the women who have received the sewing machines would help them manage their profession and even start their own business.

The Minister said that during the training programme, the women would also be offered a stipend of Rs2000 per month.

lok Sabha MP from Raipur and senior BJP leader Ramesh Bais thanked the Chief Minister and the State government employees for the opening of the massive commercial complex and professional training centre at its premises.

He hoped that the professional training centres would greatly help in opening more employment avenues for the youth. The six-storey commercial complex inaugurated today is constructed in 1,487 square metres of space in a total area of an estimated 30,000 square metres. The ground floor of the premises has four small and three big shops with every floor having four office chambers.

Also present on the occasion was Chairman of Chhattisgarh Industrial Development Corporation Badridhar Dewan.
