Notably Chhattisgarh became the first State which has enacted and passed a law against acid attacks during the last monsoon session of State legislative Assembly held in the month of June this year. The new law provisioned punitive action against persons trading acids without license. While found selling acid without license, seller could be slapped fine of `25,000 or one year imprisonment or both. If the person is caught again the punishment would be doubled.
