Chhattisgarh failed to fulfill promises: BJP

Published on:

The Congress government in Chhattisgarh has not fulfilled the promises made to youths in its election          manifesto, state BJP in-charge D. Purandeshwari said on Tuesday.

The government has not provided jobs to each household or recruited one lakh youths or given               unemployment allowance to one million people, she told the media here.

This is why the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) is organizing a sit-in protest and rally here on August 24, she said.

She said that when the government released            vacancies for 400 posts, 20,000 people applied while for just 90 posts of peon 2.25 lakh applications were filed.

The government should explain that if unemployment rate was the lowest in Chhattisgarh, why so many applications came in.

Similarly, the Congress promised Rs 2,500 as           unemployment allowance to 10 lakh youths. This would total Rs 3,000 crore per year but no budgetary provision has been made, she said.

The government has failed to control illegal sale of liquor, she said, adding that journalists were being             terrorized by government personnel.
