Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday gave away cheques of financial aid sanctioned from the Journalists' Welfare Fund to families of journalists who died due to Covid-19.
An official communiqué said Rs 1.15 crores were sanctioned for 53 media personnel. Financial aid of Rs 90 lakhs was sanctioned to the families of 18 media personnel who passed away due to the pandemic.
At an event held at his residence, Baghel handed over the cheques to the families of 11 media personnel. The other cheques have been sent to their families.
A two-minute silence was observed to pay homage to the departed media personnel.
