The elder sister-in-law of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Saroj Pandey, Charulata Pandey finally gave in to the pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to withdraw nomination papers on Monday.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination is November 5 for the second phase of polling scheduled on November 20.
She had filed the nomination papers on November 2, the last date for filing of nomination papers for Vaishali Nagar seat.
Earlier, brother of Saroj Pandey, Rakesh Pandey had been making the claim for contesting from Vaishali Nagar assembly constituency , but BJP had retained the sitting MLA Vidyaratan Bhasin.
In case of Charulata Pandey, as per party sources, BJP National President Amit Shah had talked to her after which she took the step of withdrawing nomination.
Party sources said that Rakesh Pandey had raised the question before the senior party leaders during the interaction with him that when son of Chief Minister, MP and MLAs’ sons can contest election, then why brother of Saroj Pandey cannot contest polls.
After much convincing, Rakesh Pandey had withdrawn nomination but his wife jumped into poll fray after filing the nomination papers as independent candidate much to the embarrassment to the BJP and Saroj Pandey. With Charulata Pandey withdrawing nomination papers, all political drama over the issue had been put to rest.
