Internal bickering in Chhattisgarh unit of Congress party has reportedly come to the fore over allotment of party tickets for the upcoming Assembly polls in the State.

The bone of contention this time was the Assembly ticket for the Bilaigarh Assembly segment over which two senior leaders of the party holding coveted posts in the party are on warpath.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) Working President Shiv Daharia and senior party leader and CGPCC Vice President, P.R. Khunte both are claiming the party ticket from the Bilaigarh constituency.

Khunte on Tuesday approached the State office of the party at Rajiv Bhawan along with his supporters.

He and his supporters demanded party ticket from Bilaigarh assembly constituency. “local candidate must be given the party ticket and not to those who have lost the elections several times”, they demanded.

When Khunte's supporters started raising slogans, CGPCC Chief Bhupesh Baghel himself came out and appealed to calm down. He later took Khunte with him for confidential talk.

According to information, Khunte met Baghel and had categorically informed him that if ticket is allotted to Daharia instead of him then he along with hundreds of his supporters will resign from the party and will work against the party candidate.
