With a view of controlling stray dog menace, the State government has decided to create shelter homes in all 168 towns/cities of Chhattisgarh.
The State Urban administration and Development Department has issued a circular in this regard to all Commissioners of Municipal Corporations and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Municipal Councils and
Nagar Panchayats in this connection.
The circular has directed officers to get constructed a shelter home or similar other optional arrangements for stray dogs so that dog bite related incidents can be averted.
It has also mentioned for appointment of a veterinary officer in the shelter.
Notably, shelter home for dogs was recommended by Chhattisgarh Child Protection Commission.
