Chhattisgarh may get a few more matches of IPl 2016 as those scheduled in Maharashtra could be moved to some other venues.
In the wake of unprecedented drought hitting Maharashtra and the Bombay High Court order, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering the option of moving about 19 IPl matches out of the State, it was learnt.
As per the schedule, Mumbai and Pune have been allotted 8 and 9 matches respectively while Nagpur is to hold 3 matches.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of cancelling IPl matches scheduled in the State.
“Only one or two IPl matches are scheduled here and the drought conditions are also under control. So the matches will not be cancelled,” he told reporters at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur after returning from his six-day China tour.
