Solar power is the energy of the future and considering immense possibilities in this sector, it is imperative that all the equipment required for solar power usage are manufactured in Chhattisgarh stated Chhattisgarh  Industry Minister Amar Agrawal .

He was addressing a workshop focussed on Solar Energy here on Tuesday.

The workshop was organised for encouraging the investment in solar power sector in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister  informed that under the ‘National Solar Mission’ it has been decided that by the year 2022, one lakh MW of solar power will be generated across India. For achieving this target, we are going to need technical equipment in huge numbers, he said.

“Today we import all the equipment related with solar power but if solar equipment manufacturing infrastructure is developed in our country then not only Chhattisagrh would be able to establish itself in the solar energy sector,” Agrawal stated.

He also pointed out that though Chhattisgarh is a power surplus State, but it is also aiming to participate in the development of neighbouring States.

He said  that  Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants that under the ‘Make in India’ plan, all solar equipment are manufactured in India, he said.

While welcoming investors, Agrawal said that the State Government has always provided a positive and convenient milieu for industries. This is the reason Chhattisgarh is a favourite destination for investors and industrialists.

Secretary, Industry Department Subodh Kumar Singh who was also present in the workshop said that more production of solar power will also reduce its cost.

“Solar energy is a major source of renewable energy and currently Germany is meeting 45 per cent of its power consumption through renewable energy,” he said adding solar sector is a new segment and priority sector for the State Government.
