A Division Bench of the Chhattisgarh High Court comprising Justice T P Sharma and Justice Inder Singh Uboweja on Friday stayed the forthcoming election of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC).
The court also issued notices to Raipur Municipal Commissioner and the State Government besides other respondents with direction to file their replies within three weeks.
The order was issued on a petition filed by Jagdish Ahuja and Gyanesh Sharma, the sitting councillors of RMC challenging the alleged disproportionate extension in RMC’s limits.
The counsel for RMC and the State, while appearing on advance copy of the petition informed the Court that the area has increased due to addition of seven villages in RMC’s limit.
