The Chhattisgarh Government had been asked to provide us with best Non-government organizations (NGOs) for conducting independent studies to know about the state of Women’s establishments in Chhattisgarh so that a detailed plan could be chalked out, stated Union Woman and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi on Thursday.

She was addressing a press conference here at Mantralaya after she inaugurated India’s first ‘One Stop Centre’ for women victims of violence in Raipur.

The ‘One Stop Centre’ has been established on a ‘pilot basis’ and after studies are conducted for six months, a future strategy would be chalked out, Gandhi stated.

“We have also developed systematic parameters which will be surveyed in institutions like orphanage and schools across the nation. It will be reviewed on a monthly basis,” she said.

lauding the work done by Chhattisgarh government she said “I am happy with the work done here; however, there is scope of improvement in everything. I think we are doing well as compared to other states and there is a genuine commitment towards women and children in this State.”

To query about increasing share of women in the police force in Chhattisgarh as Naxals also have a strong female cadre, she said “Maoists keep forward their women for getting killed and we cannot do so.”
