The Central government will take all steps to control Covid-19 in Chhattisgarh, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan told a group of MPs from the state on Sunday. A communication to the media after the meeting said that the MPs raised concern over "half-hearted decisions" taken by the government in Chhattisgarh despite the rapid spread of the pandemic in the state. They pointed out that capital Raipur has become the Covid hotspot of the state. The MPs, including BJP State Vice President and Raipur MP Sunil Soni, Vijay Baghel (Durg), Arun Sao (Bilaspur), Gomati Sai (Raigarh) and Mohan Mandavi (Kanker), told the Minister that the state has failed to make all necessary arrangements for treatment.
The number of affected persons has crossed the 84,000-mark against which some 40,000 are active cases. The number of deaths is steadily rising. The testing has also not picked up and the recovery rate is low compared to other states, the MPs said.
The Minister told the BJP MPs that the Central government had provided more resources to Chhattisgarh. He said that keeping their concerns in mind, the Central government will work on all steps and possibilities to control the global pandemic in the state.
