The Chhattisgarh unit of Congress party on Saturday protested registration of one more offence against State Congress President Bhupesh Baghel.
Addressing a press conference here, party’s State Media Committee Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi besides Ruchir Garg, Kiranmayee Nayak and Dr Rakesh Gupta, jointly alleged that Baghel’s arrest was at the behest of BJP which they stated was resorting to dictatorship and using terror tactics through police in 'final days of its Government'.
“For last 15 years, Congress has played constructive role of an opposition while bringing out the Government’s shortcomings but the BJP proved that it does not believe in democratic values,” they stated.
The party leaders remarked:“It is under leadership of Bhupesh Baghel that all the ills of Government including scams and massive corruption were brought in public domain.
Under opposition’s pressure, the Government was forced to purchase 15 quintals of paddy each from farmers and also had to pay the promised bonus to them. This is the reason why the Government has slapped innumerable cases against Congress party chief, they stated.
The leaders warned that the days of filing false cases will end and those involved in scams, politicians along with Government officials assisting in scams will go to jail when Congress with massive majority forms Government in the State.
