Carelessness pushing up Covid cases again

Carelessness in following Covid protocol is taking a toll on public health, with active cases again rising in Chhattisgarh but people seem to be not taking the situation seriously, the government said on Wednesday.

The observation was derived from the death audit reports of Covid patients, a press release said. The government said that a 47-year-old Covid patient died recently in Raigarh.

“The Covid symptoms had appeared in the infected person on October 25. But the person went for Antigen test (only) on November 2. He was admitted in hospital on November 4 after he was reported positive,” the release said.

The man had heart disease. By the time he was admitted, his oxygen level had dropped to 81 percent. Despite best efforts from the medical staff, he died the next day, it said.

Specialists have repeatedly warned that if people feel any Covid like symptom, they must get tested within 24 hours, the release said. The Health Department has again appealed public to strictly follow the Covid protocol so that more lives could be saved. According to the Health Department, by November 17, 2.13 lakh people were found Covid positive in Chhattisgarh of which 1.92 lakh had recovered.
