As many as four major projects have been commissioned at the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) during its capital repair exercise.
In category II extended capital repair of BF-6, the electrical staff of BF-6 along with others took up the challenging task of upgrading and replacing old obsolete automation drive and technology in BF-6.BSP executive director YK Degan formally inaugurated the entire system on August 6 (Wednesday).Present on the occasion were l Umakanth GM(I&A), Pramod Kumar GM I/c(Iron), Harinand Rai GM (BFs) and SN Abidi GM (PPC).
The four jobs that were carried out as under the initiative included ‘MCCs made intelligent’ thus reducing cables and components to be used in panels which meant improved reliability and better diagnostic.The old ‘Analog Skip Thyristor DC Drive’ was replaced with latest state-of-art digital drive having fast Data acquisition system features for improved troubleshooting. Besides, Automation and weighing system was replaced with latest PlC and HMI system. The entire software was developed by team of engineers from Shop(E), Schneider & INCOS.
Moreover, conceptualisation to execution of these jobs was done under guidance of Surendra Singh DGM I/c BF(E) and Sandeep Shrivastava, DGM(E), BFs with the help of INCOS & Instrumentation.Meanwhile, the Dozer ar MERS ( Plant Garage) was inaugurated at the Bhilai Steel Plant.The ‘Plant Garage’ caters to all transportation and material handling requirements of various departments of Bhilai Steel Plant.
The Dozers are critical in handling raw and bulk material of all major production shops .To ensure customers satisfaction, to improve the equipment availability and reliability , M/s BEMl make Bull Dozer model-BD-155,BSP No-136 has been revamped through in-house resources. This commendable job has not only enhance the equipment fleet but also resulted into substantially cost saving, the press release stated.
The Dozer rehabilitated by repairing major assemblies and sub assemblies like engine, transmission cooler, lift cylinders, track chains, blade etc. Substantial cost saving has been effected, a BSP Press release issued here on Thursday statedPlant Garage accomplished this task under the guidance of DGM I/c Plant Garge VK Rath and team leader DGM(Maint) Plant Garage MVB Reddy. The Equipment was inaugurated and dedicated to MRD by GM I/c (M&U) SK Jain at MERS premises.Jain applauded the team and advised to take up many such cost control measures. Present on the occasion was GM (Shops) M B Ganesamoorthy, GM (SMS-I) Kamlendu Das who appreciated the collective efforts of Plant Gargae to revive the Dozer in time.
The other executives of Plant Garage , RB Gaharwar , Santosh George, S Touthang, Emmanuel Roy, A Daharwal and lav Kumar were also present on the occasion.The revamping job has been carried out under the supervision of P Bhaumik AGM (PG) and S Jamulkar AGM (PG).The dozer repair project was executed by a team of skilled workforce comprising of RVN Mohan , Shekhar , SK Gupta , lakshman Singh, SK Ramteke, Rameshwar Prasad , DM Biswas, Mallick Ram , BR Sawarnkar.
