District CollectorR Prasanna has directed transport officials to take stern action against owners of buses if their vehicles are not found technically fit to operate with a view to preventing mishaps.
The Collector has directed officials to carry out minute inspection of the vehicles and cancel the fitness certificates of the vehicle on the spot if they do not meet the prescribed fitness standards. He has also directed the officials to submit a report to him within a week on action taken on such unfit vehicles.
The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) has asked the owners of buses to ensure that the seats, rear and front glass, windows, roof, tyres, engine and body reflector meet the prescribed standards.
