The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company limited (CSPDCl) will organise camps in various villages to provide electricity connection in each house. The company will provide the connection for a token money of Rs250 only in these camps, said CSPDCl Executive Director (Transmission and Maintenance) HR Narvare.

He said that expansion of power lines is being done in villages and ‘Majra-Tola’ of the State under different schemes of the State government and Central government. Despite expansion of lines, a number of rural households are not able to get single phase electricity connection due to poor economic status and for being at located at a distance from the Distribution Centre Office. The company will give single-phase connection for a token deposit of Rs250 only.

For getting single-phase connection the applicant will have to submit an identity certificate issued by the Sarpanch along with the application. After depositing the token amount of Rs250, he will be immediately given single-phase connection. The token deposit is deducted from the total amount of Rs1450 which includes connection charge of Rs1200 and security deposit of Rs250.

The remaining amount of Rs1200 is taken from the consumer in 12 installments with the electricity bill, said Narvare. Earlier, the consumer had to arrange the service pipe, service wire and meter board. In the new scheme, all these material will be arranged by regional chief engineers.
