Camps, quarantine centres for migrants to be set up at panchayats

On Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's initiative to arrest the spread of Covid-19, the Health Department on Tuesday told all District Collectors to set up camps and quarantine centres for all those returning to Chhattisgarh from different states.

Official sources said the Health Department is constantly monitoring the fight against coronavirus at the community level. The Chief Minister had decided to bring back the stranded persons and migrant labourers from other states numbering in lakhs.

Keeping in view the mammoth task, the Health Department has chalked out plans for 14 days of quarantine.

The camps and quarantine centres have to come up at village panchayats in each district. District Collectors and Chief Medical and Health Officers (CMHOs) have been instructed to coordinate with the panchayats and the rural development department for this.

The holding areas should be established far away from the villages and should be well guarded so that no one escapes from there.

In case any person under observation complains about coughing, fever, respiratory problem or any other symptom of Covid-19, the information must be immediately relayed to the Health Department. Such persons have to be kept in isolation till their sample is tested in the laboratory.

The village panchayats have been given the responsibility of setting up and running the quarantine centres. Anganwadi workers will do community surveillance and school teachers in the village will do the work of contact tracing, an official said.
