'Campaign brainstorming' sessions still on in BJP

Published on:

The brainstorming sessions in the Bharatiya Janata Party are still continuing here to evolve campaign strategies for taking on the opposition Congress which is firing all cylinders to get back to power this time round.

The BJP State leadership is taking a highly ‘cautious’ approach to campaign planning by not revealing too much too soon regarding the party’s plans in the hustings, a top party functionary told The Pioneer.

‘It’s clearly evident this time that the Opposition would replicate campaign models adopted by us (BJP) as they had been doing in some ways which had made us move with caution while planning our campaigns’, he said.

Party insiders were of the view that since Congress is adopting an ‘Ambush’ approach to campaigning by raking up issues in the nick of time, the BJP would have to focus on timing rather than ‘spilling the beans ’ during the initial phase of campaigning.

This time round the war is more about ‘issues’ than individuals when it comes to candidates of both the BJP and the Congress who would take on each other, party sources informed.

The BJP had been working very hard on its ‘development’ poll plank with Chief Minister Raman Singh at the forefront of the campaign. The party had also been heavily banking on its trusted MlAs close to the Chief Minister to lead the party’s poll campaign across the State.

The entire screening of the party ticket aspirants had been taking place while taking the advice of Chief Minister Raman Singh, sources stated. The final call on the ticket aspirants would anyway be taken by the party’s central leadership, sources added.
