Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Chhattisgarh unit, will hand over a representation addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to all the members of parliament-- both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha—from Chhattisgarh seeking his intervention in alleged violation of FDI norms by Amazon and Flipkart.
The submission of the representation is part of the nation-wide movement cum strike the CAIT lined up from November 13 to January 10, 2020 against the e-commerce giants.
CAIT national vice president Amar Parwani, when contacted, said as part of the agitations federations and associations of mobile retailers, consumer product distributors, aluminum utensils manufacturers, electronics, toys, drug leaders, electrical goods and appliances, hardware manufacturers and around 40 other traders organisations under one banner have decided to hand over the representation to all the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs across the country to take up the issue in parliament.
The main point, Parwani said, is the online companies should be asked to follow the rules of the land and brought under its purview as their unethical trade is directly affecting seven crore traders and retailers of consumer business.
Even small and minor industries doing business of Rs 45 lakh crores annually in the country, are also affected, he said. It is a major source of revenue for the governments. Additional to it, the sector provides employment to around 40 crore people directly and indirectly.
Parwani said central government itself is violating the FDI policy and promoting the e-commerce companies. He further said as part of CAIT’s national-level meeting, phase-wise agitation will be held on November 20, nation-wide protest at all state capitals will be held apart from the handing over of letter on November 13.
On November 25, National Protest March Day will be organised in around 500 districts of the country, followed by rally on December 2 covering 1000 cities of the country. The agitation will continue till January 10.
