CAIT seeks further cut in imports from China

Published on:

India’s imports from China fell by 27.63 percent during April-August this fiscal to $21.58 billion over the same period the previous year, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Chhattisgarh Chapter said on Tuesday.

In a joint statement, CAIT National Vice President Amar Parwani and State Working Presidents Magelal Maloo and Vikram Singh Deo said it is an         important step to liberate Indian trade from the vicious grip of China.

Indian traders are now preparing to give another jolt to China by stopping festival goods imports, which approximates Rs 40,000 crores a year during the festival season including Diwali, they said.

CAIT has been spearheading a        nationwide movement for boycott of Chinese products in over 500    categories. It wants      people to go for Indian goods instead.

Parwani said there are certain celebrities who are promoting China by either       endorsing Chinese brands or becoming mouthpieces of companies having large Chinese investments.
