The Opposition Congress on Tuesday said the latest report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has exposed the corruption prevalent in Chhattisgarh Government.

State Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel and leader of Opposition in the State Assembly TS Singh Deo said the chief minister claims that he has 'Zero Tolerance' on corruption but the CAG report has exposed how such claims are false. The leaders said that in CAG report for the financial year ended March 2013, the power distribution companies have incurred a loss of Rs 2012.27 crore due to bad financial management, corruption, and poor monitoring.

CAG has found irregularities of Rs 78.88 crore in the Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation . It also cast doubt on the disbursement of Rs 121.14 crore towards the payment of scholarship to the students, they said. The CAG also found that the State government has not submitted utilization certificate for Rs 6848.30 crore worth of government works. The Commercial tax collected by the government witnessed 5.22 per cent decline in 2012-13.

The government failed to recover Rs 2002 crore excise duty. It found irregularity in the utilization of Rs 219.92 crore CAMPA fund. It pointed out irregularities in the utilization of Rs 2260.09 crore in District Panchayat, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Welfare Department. The leaders accused the Government of implementing the Central food security plan by renaming it as its own, they said, adding the State has an annual budget of

Rs 5000 crore and the CAG report pointed out irregularities in more than fifty per cent of its spending. This revelation is shocking and exposes how the government is neck deep in corruption, they said.
