A trooper of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) was injured on Saturday after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Bijapur district.
The incident occurred near Bangoli where a road opening party of the CAF’s 8th Battalion was patrolling, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Shukla said. When the team was cordoning the route ahead of Pandemurga, Constable Tham Singh stepped on a pressure IED, triggering the blast. Singh, who sustained serious injuries on his legs, was shifted to a primary health centre at Nelasnar and then to the Dantewada district hospital.
After preliminary treatment there, he was airlifted to Raipur for further medication.
