C'garh procures record 86 lakh tonnes of paddy

Chhattisgarh has procured a record 86 lakh tonnes of paddy and one week of procurement is still left, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Sunday.

This has been possible due to the government's farmer friendly policies due to which farmers have returned to the fields, he said.

Baghel was addressing the 75th annual convention of Manva Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj (Durg) in village Chetuva in Dhamdha block, an official communication said.

Baghel said the record procurement was achieved despite a shortage of gunny sacks to store the paddy.

He threw light on other government schemes which brought economic benefits to women and farmers. The farmers, he said, were now satisfied. They received money under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana in instalments which helped them to carry out farming and other work.
