To check herd immunity against Covid-19 in Chhattisgarh, the state government has decided to carry out a ‘sero survey’ with help of the ICMR, it was announced here on Wednesday.
The survey from September 16 will be held in 10 districts including Raipur. Two blocks of Raipur district -- Raipur and Tilda -- will be covered in the first phase.
Blood samples of people living in the region will be collected during the survey, an official press release said.
They said that 500 samples will be collected from every district.
Those chosen for the survey will include people with low immunity, tuberculosis, HIV patients, people in containment zones, health workers, security personnel, journalists, villagers, tribal people, industrial workers, drivers, bank and postal employees, airplane staff, prisoners and the elderly in old-age-homes.
These samples will be tested for antibody immunoglobulin G and M. Sero surveillance will be conducted for numbers of patients in every one million patients, the press release said.
Apart from Raipur, the survey will be held in Bilaspur, Korba, Mungeli, Jashpur, Janjgir Champa, Balrampur, Balodabazaar, Rajnandgaon and Durg.
