Chhattisgarh has decided to buy cow dung from farmers and dairy owners at Rs 1.50 per kg.
Cabinet Sub-Committee Chairman and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey announced on Saturday that the decision was arrived at a meeting held at 'Bheej Bhawan". The cow dung will be bought under the ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’.
The proposal will be tabled before the Cabinet for approval.
Cabinet sub-committee members Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar, Cooperative Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam and Urban Administration Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya participated in the meeting.
The state government is going to launch the ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’ from the ‘Hareli’ festival (July 20) by procuring the cow dung from farmers and cattle owners. The plan is to convert it into vermi-compost, said an official statement.
The Gauthan Committee or their nominated group will collect cow dung door-to-door. A procurement card will be made on which the quantity and paid amount will be recorded.
