In a bid to nip Covid-19 in the bud, the Chhattisgarh government has increased the testing of the viral infection.
Stressing on screening for the virus at the initial state, an official statement said on Monday that the testing average has touched 1,485 samples per 10 lakh population. This is better than the national average of 1,152 per 10 lakh population.
The statement attributed this for the higher positivity rate. With more tests, the positivity rate increases proportionately, it said.
A total of 146,152 samples were tested in the past three days -- 49,584 on April 16, 53,916 on April 17 and 42,652 sample on April 18.
The average testing per 10 lakh population in West Bengal is 475 samples, 688 in Andhra Pradesh, 789 in Odisha, 840 in Rajasthan, 842 in Bihar, 1,052 in Uttar Pradesh and 1,455 in Tamil Nadu.
