To mark International Women’s Day, the Jai Maa Durga Women Self Help Group (SHG) members from Khuteri village in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district will be felicitated in Delhi on Monday for outstanding contribution.
Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will do the felicitation under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihood Mission, a press release said.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Woman and Child Development Minister Anila Bhediya congratulated the SHG members.
The SHG is among 30 women SHGs and 10 village organizations which will be honored in Delhi.
SHG President Lokeshwari Sahu said they helped nourish 14 of 16 dehydrated kids and conducted marriages for eight couples.
They participate in baby shower ceremonies, weight measurement of kids, urge people to make the village ODF and improve sanitation, she added.
Each SHG member earns Rs 2,000 by preparing ready to eat food, she said.
