Chhattisgarh’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) on Friday handed over a private housing project, City of Valencia, located on the outskirts of Raipur, to the Chhattisgarh Housing Board in the interests of its residents.
The action came after promoter and builder Aftab Siddiqui’s reluctance to develop the project and provide basic amenities like road, electricity, water and sewerage to the residents though these had been promised in the brochure.
The builder had prepared a project for 1,072 plots in Nardaha in 2010. Based on the attractive brochure, he sold 691 plots and collected over Rs 41 crore.
Instead of investing the money to develop the project, the promoter diverted it to other heads. The project was supposed to be completed by 2015 but no development work was done.
Chhattisgarh RERA Chairman Vivek Dhand said 130 plot holders in City of Valencia in Nardaha filed a complaint in 2019 underlining that the development work at the project had not been completed.
During the hearing, it dawned that Siddique, a resident of Naya Para in Raipur, had obtained development permission in 2010 to construct a fully equipped residential colony with 1,072 plots.
The authority decided to hand over the project to the Chhattisgarh Housing Board, Dhand said.
The Housing Board will now take ownership of the project and submit an action plan for its development within two months to RERA.
The Raipur Collector has been asked to take necessary action to transfer the project and land to the Housing Board.
