The Nursing Officers Association in Chhattisgarh will be on a two-hour strike for four days in all hospitals from February 1 in support of four demands including better pay as well as more recruitment.
The strike from 9 to 11 am is expected to disrupt the working of the hospitals. The protest will end on February 4.
Association President Dr Reena Rajput and Secretary Neelima Sharma said their demands including grade-pay, nursing and dress allowance, change of name of the post as Nursing Officers and increase in number of staff nurses.
A memorandum listing the demands was handed over to the state government.
In 2018, the nursing staff went on strike for 18 days. A spokeswoman said the strikers were jailed for two days.
According to the nurses, the government set up a committee to consider the demands. A report was readied in three months. But its recommendations were never implemented.
Even the allowance promised during the Covid-19 pandemic when the nursing staff worked without leave has been denied, they added.
