C’garh HC stays selection of Assistant Professor

The Chhattisgarh High Court on Thursday stayed the recruitment of a Schedule Caste candidate to the post of Assistant Professor in the Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) following a legal challenge.

A bench of Justice Goutam Bhaduri said the post for Agricultural Statistics shall not be finalized till the next date of hearing, the petitioner’s counsel Anjinesh Anjay Shukla told The Pioneer.

The judge has fixed the next hearing after six weeks, he added.

The petitioner, Durgesh Sagar, in January filed a petition challenging the recruitment of another SC candidate.

Shukla said that the petitioner and the respondent had applied for the same post and that both belonged to the SC category.

He submitted that respondent had while obtaining Ph.D given a false declaration that he is not working anywhere whereas he was working as a Rural Agriculture Extension Officer.

Shukla further submitted that the university from which the respondent obtained Ph.D. is not accredited to the Indian Council forAgriculture Research (ICAR) and on that ground several candidates have been disqualified.

Consequently, the petitioner prayed against the selection of the respondent.
