C’garh govt commited on total prohibition: Lakhma

Published on:

Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma on Tuesday said the Chhattisgarh government was serious on enforcing prohibition in the state.

Lakhma said in a statement that the state government was contemplating all pros and cons before banning liquor. The government is also studying the effect of prohibition on tribals, farmers, labourers and other common people, he said.

He reiterated that before enforcing prohibition, an extensive campaign will be launched to make people aware about the social evil.

“Study teams will be sent to states where prohibition is being enforced," he said.

“Though we included prohibition in our election manifesto, we are not in a haste to enforce it. A proper study will be done on its effect on the society before we go it," he said.
