New avenues of development have opened up for businesses and industries in Chhattisgarh post Covid-19, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Tuesday.
He was addressing the 63rd annual convention of the Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) at the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium here.
Baghel said a golden period had dawned in the state after a tough pandemic. There has been a tremendous flow of money from villages to cities. More than Rs 1.5 lakh crore have reached villages through government schemes, he said.
He said that the government has put money in the pockets of the consumers, which has spurred growth to the business and commerce sectors.
In the current Kharif year, the state has not only witnessed a bumper yield but undergone significant economic development.
People from different parts of the state were now demanding Atmanand English medium schools and banks. This reflects economic empowerment.
Now the government is promoting millets as they have high nutritional value, he said.
He approved the demands of CCCI for allotment of 1,000 acres of land for a wholesale corridor, waiving off the 'mandi' fee on poha and murmura (beaten and puffed rice) as well as regulation on commercial use of land reserved for residential purpose.
He said all the markets will be equipped with proper lighting and close circuit television cameras. The procurement of the goods produced outside of the state will be procured only through registered traders.
Earlier, CCCI office bearers weighed the Chief Minister with notebooks, which would be distributed to needy children.
