C’garh Cong protests against ED

Published on:

The Congress in Chhattisgarh on Monday staged a protest against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning their leader Rahul Gandhi and accused the Modi government of indulging in "vendetta politics".

The show of strength came on a day Rahul Gandhi appeared at the ED office in Delhi in connection with a money laundering case pertaining to the National Herald-ALJ deal.

The demonstration by the state Congress near Pujari Park in Pachpedi Naka was led by PCC chief Mohan Markam.

A host of party leaders and legislators among others participated.

Later, a protest march was taken out from Pujari Park to the ED office at Pachpedi Naka.

Markam accompanied by several Congress leaders and protesters returned after handing over a                 memorandum to the Enforcement Directorate.

Accusing the BJP of    suppressing the right to protest, Markam later said: "By issuing summons to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, the BJP is indulging in vendetta politics as they have reopened the case that was shut in 2015.

“It is an act of cowardice and a well-hatched plan to suppress the voice of the opposition."
