The Chhattisgarh Assembly was adjourned for 10 minutes as a mark of respect on Wednesday at the start of the monsoon session after making obituary            references to former legislators who passed away.

Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant paid homage to             former Lok Sabha member from Surguja Chakradhari Singh and former MLA Bhajan Singh Nirankari.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said Chakradhari Singh hailed from a family of landlords but was a simple tribal leader. He was more inclined to serve the people.

Nirankari though born in Bilaspur worked in Bhilai as a lawyer and later started his political career as a Youth Congress leader. He was a guiding light to many leaders, said Baghel.

Leader of Opposition Dharamal Kaushik said Chakradhari Singh was a           tribal leader who cut across the political ideology to reach out to the people. He became the people's voice in           undivided Madhya Pradesh.
