Congress on Saturday declared a list of four more candidates from Chhattisgarh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, thus naming nominees so far for the nine constituencies, out of 11 in the state.
In the second list, the party has decided to field Pramod Dubey from Raipur seat. Dubey is currently serving as mayor of the capital city.
Other names in the list include Atal Shrivastava from Bilaspur seat Atal Shrivastava, Bholaram Sahu from Rajnandgaon and the party’s sitting MLA Dhanendra Sahu from Mahasamund.
Meanwhile, it is being speculated that from Raipur BJP could field senior leader Brijmohan Agrawal and former chief minister Raman Singh from Rajnandgaon.
“Congress has selected deserving candidates for Chhattisgarh and we are sure of their victory. Actually, the BJP is now confused as to whom to field against Congress contenders,” said Sushil Anand Shukla, spokesperson Chhattisgarh Congress.
Earlier, Congress announced a list of five candidates. From Surguja tribal leader Khel Sai Singh got the ticket.
“We are sure that we are going to win the election,” said Khel Sai Singh, while talking to The Pioneer over phone.
“The outstanding work that Congress party has done in its three months of rule has left a deep impression on people in Surguja and we believe they will support us,” he said.
“The failure of the Modi government has already provided us an edge in the election,” he added.
From Raigarh Laljeet Singh Rathia, from Janjgir Champa Ravi Bhardwaj, from Bastar Deepka Baij and from Kanker Biresh Thakur have got the party nominations.
Notably, in 2014 general elections, the BJP had won 10 out of 11 seats in the state.
Tamradhwaj Sahu was the lone Congress candidate who had won in Chhattisgarh from Durg parliamentary seat in 2014.
