According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh was 0.8 percent in July, which was lower than the most developed states in the country, an official communication on Tuesday said.

In May, the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh was 0.7 percent and 7.1        percent in the country.

Meanwhile, as per CMIE, Haryana recorded the highest unemployment rate at 26.9 percent in July. Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar at 20.2 percent and 18.8 percent respectively stood second and third respectively.

The Chhattisgarh         government has undertaken several steps and formulated new policies to generate employment opportunities especially for the youth, resulting in constant decline in the unemployment rate, the communication stated.

The statement said the state government adopted a Chhattisgarh model of          development three-and-a-half years ago.

The state has formed a "Chhattisgarh Employment Mission" to create around 15 lakh new employment opportunities in the coming five years.
