Chhattisgarh has its own unique tribal folk art and culture. The purpose of hosting the Tribal Craft Mela is to preserve, promote tribal craftsmanship and to disseminate tribal skills among the public, Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Dr. Premsai Tekam said on Monday.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Veer Jannayak Birsa Munda, the Minister was inaugurating a three-day Tribal Craft Mela at Haat Bazar Pandri, Raipur, an official communication said.

The Tribal Research and Training Institute, Nava Raipur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, New Delhi, is organizing the fair from November 15 to 17.

There are 35 stalls selling jute products, bamboo craft, wood, iron and dhokra art, murals, tattooing and handicrafts.

The Minister hoped that tribal folk artists and craftsmen would get an opportunity to showcase their skills and sell their products.
