Chhattisgarh has created a record of sort by becoming the lone state where no re-polling was held since the 2018 assembly elections.
This year’s Lok Sabha election and subsequent two by-polls of Dantewada and Chiktrakot— generally known for Naxal incidents during polls—also held peacefully without any re-poll, setting an example.
This feat could be achieved because of various initiatives taken by the office of the chief electoral officer. Electoral awareness programmes, security arrangement, E.T.P.B.S and postal ballot arrangements for service voters, providing assistance and wheel chairs for differently abled voters, drinking water, primary medical services, innovative modes for distribution of polling materials for holding free, fair and incident free polling were some of the initiatives.
As per office of the CEO, Chhattisgarh became the lone state where no complaint about electoral roll was received, no looting of EVM, bare minimum replacement of EVMs (one during polling due to technical reasons), no Naxal incident were reported during polling and maximum polling was reported in Naxal infested areas.
